9 June 2006: Germany vs Costa Rica

Result: Germany-4; Costa Rica-2

WHAT A START! Well done Germany. Costa Rica could have done better. Klose, Lahm and Frings- good job! Wanchope- not bad.

The game started great. I noticed Costa Rica had good defense tactics but that didn't hold well in the second half. They were pretty strong in terms of defense in the first half and therefore 51% of ball possession was under Germany. Throughout the game Germany made a number of attempts to score and Costa Rica only paid attention to obstruct their opponents' attempts. Not a really good move. Costa Rica would have done better if they would have realized Germany's game plan. The Germans had direction; the Costa Ricans just kept their eyes on the ball rather than the movement/ placement of key German players.
Lahm was the first scorer, followed twice by Klose and then Frings sealed the victory. Well done Germany.

The next game I'm looking forward to is Sweden vs. Trinidad & Tobago and Argentina vs. Cote D' Ivoire.
